Temporary speed limit on busy Bathgate road
A temporary 30mph speed limit will operate from Monday 13 July on the A7066, Bathgate, between Inchwood Roundabout and Boghall Roundabout.
Overtaking will also be forbidden.
The 30mph limit, which is for the safety of construction workers at the temporary site access, will operate until Friday 11 December.
Campus officer for Academy
Bathgate Academy and Deans Community High School, have been chosen to pilot a new community police 'campus' initiative.
If successful, the pilot could be rolled-out across West Lothian.
The pilot is designed to promote citizenship, health and wellbeing, social inclusion and positive behaviour.
Police officers will provide a high visibility presence within the school and the local neighbourhood. The officers are likely to work closely with teaching and support staff.
Both truancy and exclusion have been reduced in other schools where 'campus' police officers have been employed.
Police appeal to local community for help
Police are appealing to the local community for help in solving an incident in Bathgate About 11.30am on Wednesday, 1 July.
A 65- year-old woman, who had returned to her car in the Tesco car park, was approached by two males, asking for directions.
They placed a map over the passenger seat where the woman's handbag had previously been placed. later, she discovered her purse was missing. On contacting her bank, transactions had already been made.
Both suspects are described as seeming to be of Mediterranean origin. One was slimly built aged between 45 and 50 and with dark hair. The other is described as aged between 40 and 45 and of medium build. They had a dark-coloured car.

All the fun of the fayre
A Bathgate's got Talent competition was just one of the many events that made up the Wester Inch Community Fayre.
It provided a fun day out for everyone as well as a chance to learn what's going on in the area.
Other attractions included DJ and live music from local talent, the chance to take a Health MOT, and craft and home baking stalls.
Road to close for more than a year for rail realignment
A section of a busy Bathgate road will close for more than a year to accommodate the Airdrie to Bathgate railway realignment and allow for full replacement of an existing bridge.
Whitburn Road will close until 18 May 2010 between its junction with Whiteside to 130 metres south of the railway bridge.
A new temporary road will be constructed for all traffic.
