Making music at the Sound Station
A group that's really in tune with youngsters from across the area is West Lothian Youth Action Project.
As part of the Cultural Services summer programme, they've been organising a music academy at the Sound Station, Livingston.
The activity has also received funding support from the Scottish Arts Council.
Youngsters have been given the opportunity to work with professional musicians. And at the end of each week-long course, they get the chance to have two songs recorded on a CD.
Youngsters who, prior to the course, have never met each other before are formed into bands, providing a personality as well as a musical mix.
And it's a formula which has success stamped all over it. 13-year-old Craig, from Eliburn, is now keen to play in a band having experienced it at the Sound Station. And Shannon, from Knightsridge, who played acoustic guitar before signing up for the academy, is now set to turn her hand to bass guitar.
They're also thinking about calling their band 'Nothing in Common' to reflect the fact they they had not met before their encounter at the Sound Station.
Young people welcome Vennie reopening
The Knightsridge Adventure Playground, known locally as the Vennie, has now reopened.
The news has been welcomed by local young people, who helped to restore the building to its former glory, including painting a new mural on the walls.
An exciting range of new play equipment is to be installed at the adjacent play area.
Councillor Andrew Miller, chair of Livingston North Local Area Committee, also welcomed the news: He said: "I'm delighted we have reopened the Vennie. "It's vital to the area that we work hard to improve the range of activities available for young people."
