Open Door Christmas card campaign

Christmas presents

Council staff are being encouraged to send an electronic Christmas card to colleagues this year in aid of Open Door with donations from just £1 - please give generously.

You can join in: West Lothian citizens who would like to send festive greetings and a thank you to council staff - whether it's teachers, road workers, cleaners, librarians, housing officers, care workers ... the list is endless - can join in the fun and support young homeless people.

It's really easy to sign up - simply:

  • click on 'support open door' in online tools
  • click on miscellaneous
  • now choose 'members' from the first drop down box and 'Xmas card donation' from the second drop down box
  • fill in your details in the boxes marked with an astrix - please use the reference code: opendoor08.

And, council staff should also add their service unit in the comments box.

The fundraising campaign has the added benefits that it's kind to the environment.

Campaign organiser Christine Calder explains: "It's great to be able to support a small local charity for young people in this way.  For just a small donation everyone can get involved.  Every week we will circulate a list of people who have signed up to the campaign to council staff so that everyone can see who has signed up and sending seasons greetings."

Allan Kidd director of Open Door is thrilled with the campaign.  Allan says: "It's fantastic that we can use technology in this way to raise much needed funds.  We are currently supporting 80 young people from across West Lothian and from very different backgrounds - and who can find Christmas a very isolating time.   The money raised will go towards food parcels and gifts. I hope that as many people as possible support the campaign and on behalf of Open Door I'd like thank everyone for participating."
