Council tax - account enquiries and payments
Your annual council tax bill shows you how much you must pay.
Council Tax Payments are outlined on the back of your bill. The most popular ways to pay are:
- Direct Debit is the most convenient way to pay. You can spread your payments over 12 months rather than the statutory 10. Payment dates are the 8th, 16th, 24th or last day of the month. You can set up a direct debit over the phone by calling the Revenues Unit on 01506 776982. Please have your bank details to hand.
- Pay online (new window)
- By credit or debit card in person at any Council Information Service office or by telephone on 01506 775050
- Swipe card at any Council Information Service office or post office. Please note that it can take up to 10 days for your payment to reach your account if you pay at the post office.
Council Tax Enquiries can be dealt with calling 01506 776800, emailing CouncilTax@westlothian.gov.uk or by visiting a Council CIS office.

The Council Tax year runs from 1 April to the following 31 March. This is known as the "financial year". Your payments will usually start in April of each financial year.
