How can I find out when my child's school was last inspected?

You will need to go to the HMIE website (Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education - http://www.hmie.gov.uk/) and follow the instructions to find the last report for the school in question.

How many pupils can be in my child's class?

The maximum number of pupils in a class varies from 20 to 33 and is dependent upon the age of the pupils and the type of class it is. Class sizes are dictated by The Scottish Executive and are adhered to where possible

Who decides which class pupils should go into when there are composite classes in Primary Schools?

The head teacher, after discussion with your child's class teacher, will decide which pupils should be in which class.

Why are there composite classes in Primary Schools?

Sometimes pupil numbers in some stage classes are unworkable given the number of available classrooms and the number of teaching staff throughout the school. In these circumstances composite classes are formed.
