Roads and Pavements - New Developments
The council is responsible for approving new developments within West Lothian and the Development Planning team in Transportation is responsible for a range of related services for new development proposals ranging in size and type from single house plots to major residential, industrial and retail developments. The key areas of work the team are involved in are;
- Planning Applications; and
- Road Construction Consents
The team is responsible for giving advice on all transportation related matters for planning applications for new developments including:
- Pre application discussions;
- Parking requirements standards;
- Access requirements; and
- Design and layout standards.
Any developer wishing to construct a new road must obtain a Road Construction Consent. Development Planning manage the road construction consent process including;
- Pre application discussions;
- Advice on specification and design standards;
- Assessing and processing applications for Road Construction Consent; and
- Inspection of on going works.
The team also gives transportation advice to street traders on the suitability of proposed locations and administers the council scheme for making up private roads to adoptable standards.
