Payment Methods

Direct Debit

The individual agrees via his/her bank that the fuel supplier can withdraw the amount of the bill directly from the householder's account.

Standing Order

Through the individual's bank, an arrangement is made to pay an agreed amount to the fuel supplier, but in this case the fuel supplier has to notify the customer if they want to alter this amount.

Quarterly / bi-monthly credit payments

A quarterly or bi-monthly bill is received by the individual for the fuel that has been used over the pervious period. This bill is then paid by the individual via the bank, post office, etc.

Budget Scheme

Based on previous consumption by the individual(s) concerned, the fuel supplier agrees fixed regular payments by the individual(s) over the year.

Flexiplan / Pay-as-you-go

The fuel supplier and individual agree that as long as the bills are paid within a certain time, the individual pays what they can, when they can during that period.

Prepayment Meter

Prepayment meters are frequently installed in households where there have been some problems with paying the fuel bills. They are also increasingly common in new or refurbished housing. Tokens or charge cards are purchased from various outlets and inserted into the meter.

Fuel Direct

This method of paying for fuel is only available to those in fuel debt and receiving social security benefits. An agreed amount (up to a set maximum) is deducted from the individual's benefit payments by the DSS and transferred to the fuel supplier until the debt is cleared.
