Heating and Insulation Grants

Central Heating Programme for the Over 60's

This grant has provision for central heating, insulation and energy advice.  To qualify for the grant applicants must own or privately rent their home, be aged over 60 and not currently have a central heating system.  There will be no regional discrimination as towns, cities, rurual areas and the islands will be targeted simultaneously on a first come first served basis from Selkirk to Shetland.  Up to 40,000 installations will take place over the next 4 years.  For more information please call 0800 316 1653.

Warm Deal Grant

This is a grant for insulation measures which is available to applicants in all housing tenures who are in receipt of a qualifying benefit. Scottish Gas

The Central Heating Programme was first introduced in September 2001 to help tackle the causes of fuel poverty.  This extremely successful programme was extended from March 2006 until March 2009 to continue to deliver the benefits available through the scheme to vulnerable people.

Scottish Gas was appointed by Communities Scotland as the Managing Agent to deliver the Central Heating Programme on 25 August 2006.  Scottish Gas formally took up their roles and responsibilities on Monday 2 October 2006.
