This website provides information on the roles and work carried out by the Energy Teams within West Lothian Council. Each team is responsible for either Domestic Energy Consumption within West Lothian, or the Consumption of Energy within Public Property in West Lothian Council.

£500,000 energy savings by the Energy Conservation team
Since the implementation the council's Energy and Water Strategy, the provision of energy training, awareness raising and implemented measures have saved over £500,000 in energy costs and over 3,000 tonnes of CO2 of emissions. The council currently spends over £6 million each year on energy and £1 million on water charges. Our total annual energy consumption is over 130 million kWh.
The installation of swimming pool covers, loft insulation, low energy lighting, improvements to heating systems and controls and water saving devices, have reduced energy consumption by over 2.6 million kWh and saved over £200,000. Grants of over £70,000 have also been secured to invest in renewable technology as part of the new Bathgate Swimming Pool. The Scottish Executive recently awarded the council over £430,000 to spend on energy measures with short paybacks.
