Planning - consultations

We are committed to consulting with our customers and partners on policies we are developing, such as supplementary guidance, development briefs and other policy issues, including importantly, the statutory development plans that cover West Lothian. Such consultation will lead to improved policies that have significant customer support.

Development Planning is also involved in a wide range of planning initiatives through which the policies and aspirations of the development plan are delivered. Typically, these projects involve partnerships with other key public and private sector agencies whereby resources, statutory powers and expertise are brought together in pursuit of common objectives, including for example, the delivery of key infrastructure to help support appropriate development in West Lothian.

The council also consults statutory and non statutory consultees on planning applications where required and appropriate.
