Local plan - general information

The West Lothian Local Plan was adopted by the council and became operative on 13 January 2009. It provides guidance on the location of development across West Lothian, based on meeting the requirements set by the approved Edinburgh & the Lothians Structure Plan 2015. This is the first district wide local plan for West Lothian. This local plan has replaced the existing previously adopted Area Local Plans covering the Calders, Linlithgow, Livingston, Bathgate and Broxburn.

Raw Holdings West, East Calder: Draft development framework

West Lothian Council is inviting comments on a draft development framework for land at Raw Holdings West, East Calder.

The framework has been prepared by one of the landowners with an interest in Raw Holdings as a means of stimulating discussion and debate as to how the area could be developed in the future. The draft framework is not at this time supported by the council.

The Raw Holdings West area forms part of the wider Calderwood development allocation at East Calder which is identified in the adopted West Lothian Local Plan for mixed use development.

The Raw Holdings West area will accommodate some of the development proposed for the Calderwood area and will include new housing in addition to extension of existing community facilities at East Calder including an extension to Mansefield Park, health centre provision, extension to St Paul's primary school, and a new secondary school to serve the wider Calderwood development, as well as improvements to pedestrian and cycle links.

An exhibition has been arranged within the library in East Calder to raise awareness of the draft framework. This is your opportunity to make comment.

The exhibition will be open during library opening times for a six week period from 14 May 2010 until 28 June 2010.

These are the documents used in the exhibition:

Comments forms on which views on the framework can be submitted are available at the library in East Calder and can be returned to the council for consideration.

You can get further details or information on the consultation event  from the council's Planning Services at County Buildings, High Street, Linlithgow, telephone 01506 775203 or 775268.
