West Lothian has 14 community libraries (new window) and a shared Reference library at West Lothian College, providing a variety of services with something for everyone. We also have two mobile libraries which will visit outlying areas of West Lothian. 

Easter Holidays

Libraries will be closed for Easter on the following dates :

• Friday 2nd April
• Saturday 3rd April
• Monday 5th April

 

Ian Rankin Receives West Lothian Libraries' Scot Scriever Award

Readers in West Lothian's libraries have named crimewriter Ian Rankin as their most popular Scottish author.  Voted as top Scottish author by members of the public, Ian Rankin picked up the award in person at a special book-signing event at Carmondean Library.

 

 

 

Ask Scotland is an online reference service which brings together librarians from all over Scotland to provide expertise to answer your Scottish reference queries. Click on the Ask Scotland (new window) link to ask your question and you will receive a reply by email within 48 hours. 

 

What's On in West Lothian

Broxburn Library Refurbishment

Broxburn Library is currently closed to allow for some modernisation work to create a more welcoming and modern environment. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but are pleased to announce that the mobile library will be visiting the Somerfield car park three times a week (weather permitting). You may also use any of West Lothian's other libraries to borrow and return books.
